With the participation of RA President Serzh Sargsyan and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, Rectors of Yerevan State University Aram Simonyan, and Rector of St Petersburg State University Nikolay Korpachev signed a cooperation agreement as part of the events marking the 300th anniversary of the Armenian community in St Petersburg.

The Armenian and Russian leaders participated in the unveiling ceremony of a memorial to the first President of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences Joseph Orbeli. The scientist’s nephew Abgar Orbeli was also present at the ceremony.

Serzh Sargsyan also attended the unveiling ceremony of portraits of the renowned Armenian scientists Victor Hambardzumyan and Armen Takhtajyan. He will also visit the Armenian Church St. Karine and Centre of Armenian Culture.

Tonight, President Serzh Sargsyan will attend a concert dedicated to the local Armenian community’s 300th anniversary at the Mariinsky Theatre and deliver a speech at an official reception at the Tauride Palace.

The Armenian delegation will return to Yerevan on June 19.
