The European Union (EU) recognizes Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, but on the other hand admits a conflict over the status of Nagorno-Karabakh, Peter Semneby, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus stated in his interview with 1news.az.

According to him, Nagorno-Karabakh’s status must finally be determined as a result of a process. The issue is impossible to settle overnight. But, if an interim solution is found, other problems resulting from the conflict may be settled as well. For instance, communication may be resumed, which would be of high importance for the prosperity of both Armenia and Azerbaijan, and region on the whole, Semneby said. He pointed out that Nagorno-Karabakh’s status is not a short term issue, but to be settled in the future.
