The firm intention of Armenian authorities to protect the relations with Georgia is understandable and welcome. When your waterpipe passes through the neighbor’s territory, it’s not reasonable to quarrel with him. But neighbors differ. Some strive for harming for no reason, so that you know and remember: “He knows the incentives of your goodwill, but the main point is unchanged”.

The visit of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili to Armenia caused heated reaction among the sections of the public, positioned as “defenders” of Armenian minority rights in Georgia. They tried to show Saakashvili that good things don't last forever and during his each visit to Armenia he will be reminded of Georgian Armenian problems. Armenian authorities, in this case a host, decided not to upset Misha and overstress the situation, and those self-protruded to veil at leat till his departure. That is why the little group of “patriots” at the Marriott hotel pursuing at shaming the Georgian president was dispersed. The president, naturally, didn’t notice this commotion, but even if he did, possibly preferred to quickly forget it. Nonetheless, compared to the public and political situation in Georgia, the Armenian activists initiative might seem a child's play to him.

But that's not the point….

Why Saakashvili came to Yerevan? That's the question, that should be considered in details. If the Javakhk issue was on agenda of negotiations with Armenian authorities, we can assume that it would take no more than 15 minutes. Presumably it could be as follows:

- How is the situation in Javakheti?…

- So far OK, we are trying to control it….

- If any problems — let us know, we will assist as far as possible!

- It's OK, we can deal with it on our own.

Surprisingly, these citations by Serzh Sergsyan and Mikheil Saakashvili might be said in any sequence, depending on who at the moment experiences these problems….

There real problems of Georgian president today are northward. And Armenian contractors might help and harm simultaneously, which depends on the number of factors. In any case Saakashvili can be confident that his precious thoughts and proposals in talks with Armenian counterpart will be discussed in either way in Moscow. In the current situation, when the Georgian president closed practically all doors to dialogue with Russian leaders, this is at least something. On the other hand, turning instantly from “democratic beacon” into the boiling kettle, Georgia definitely feels the loss of control over its southern territories. The demographic, economic and political invasion of Azerbaijan-Turkey tandem makes Georgia a narrow corridor for the transit of gas and oil to Turkey. Exactly to Turkey, not Europe, like Azeri commentators currently portray the reality to sugar the pill to Georgian partners, while marketting them the same gas at “unacceptable” Russian rates.

Saakashvili realizes that in this case Armenia can be of use shortly too, unless by then it opens the border with Turkey. Then Armenia will become a competitor. For the present Georgia the worst case scenario is to get out of influence – any influence. Today the outside influence unites Georgians, and gives them hope that in a critical moment the state will be saved. And further, even the intensive Turkish political-economic invasion becomes a gurantee, an action, disabling to concentrate on the consequences of the last four years policy.

As for Armenia, this time it overdid with hospitality. The monitors both inside and outside country (Moscow) were dazzled by the shining Order of Honour awarded to Saakashvili. The formers, the patriots didn't get the subtle humour, while the latters didn't even try to get into the topic. Actually Moscow is not teeming with politics with a sense of humour. But eventually it's their own business.

We can only hope, that Saakashvili will respect his Order and our Honour and will not make the waterpipe dirty. It should be also taken into account, that he also enters into his home from somewhere.
