On June 22, RA Ambassador to Italy Rouben Karapetyan met with President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Gianfranco Fini.

The officials discussed the expansion of bilateral relations and the intensification of parliamentary diplomacy, the RA Foreign Office press service informed NEWS.am.

The sides pointed out the importance of developing cooperation through cultural and investment programs, as well as mutual visits.

Karapetyan presented the current stage of the Karabakh peace process, touching upon the recent act of sabotage by Azerbaijan.

In his turn, Gianfranco Fini stressed Italy’s balanced position on the Karabakh peace process, emphasizing the “Soviet heritage” and the Armenian side’s consistent policy in the conflict. Ambassador Karapetyan confirmed the invitation for Fini to visit Armenia and expressed hope it will give new impetus to the development of bilateral relations.
