The Georgian authorities refuted reports of Azerbaijani sources about possible supply of weapons to Armenia in return for repayment of the debt.

Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Nalbandov called the rumors “nonsense not to be commented,” Vzglyad reports.

According to Azerbaijani sources, Georgia can settle up Armenia’s debt with weapons it had obtained from NATO and did not use during August 2008 war with Russia. 

Armenia is the 8th in Georgia’s list of creditors with a debt of $17.1m.
