The special detachments are deployed in the south-east of Turkey (Kurdish-populated regions) for struggling with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
The overall number of troops reaches 600, ANF reported. Presently 300 soldiers are deployed in Hakkari, 130 - in Sirnak, 180- in Van, 210 – in Tunceli, whereas 225 – in Diyarbakir.
