The sixth congress of the Heritage party elected the 11-member board, including the party’s founder and the first Armenian FM Raffi Hovannisian, head of the Heritage parliamentary group Stepan Safaryan, as well as Ruben Hakobyan and another 8 members.
Talking to the journalists, Raffi Hovannisian noted that he would like to see consolidated opposition at the forthcoming parliamentary elections. However, in case the opposition fails to stand together, Heritage will go ahead separately, he stressed. The Heritage leader hopes that the opposition will present a single candidate, best of all, a woman. As to his chances to become a single candidate, as compared with those of the first Armenian president Levon Ter-Petrosyan (leader of the Armenian National Congress), Hovannisian noted they both have advantages and disadvantages, but it is not for them to decide.
