The visit of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov is mainly aimed at the establishment of closer ties between the states in the development of sport sector, he said at the July 17 press conference in Armenia. He pointed out Armenia’s good sport traditions in the Soviet period and major sports bases providing training of the sportsmen in high mountains. The sportsmen who trained in Tsakhkadzor achieved good results, Zhukov added.
He also stressed that presently Russian sportsmen arrive in Tsakhkadzor as well. Alexander Zhukov stressed that Russia and Armenia should develop cooperation in sport sector and use the opportunities created by Armenia for the training of the Russian sportsmen. In its turn, Russia is also ready to invite Armenian sportsmen and share experience of the Russian coaches, he added. According to him, Tsakhkadzor can become a sports base for all the CIS states.
