RF President Dmitry Medvedev’s August 11 statement intended for Ukrainian President was part of the extensive anti-Ukrainian PR campaign unleashed by Kremlin, Russian politician, Leader of “Solidarnost” opposition party Boris Nemtsov declared on August 19.

“He [Medvedev] apparently considers that is able to affect Ukrainians and poison their minds against Yushchenko. However he deludes himself. To my mind, such a rude appeal even to a loveless president of the neighboring country raises more his rating in Ukraine, though his popularity is close to nil,” Nemtsov stated.

The politician considers, there will be no Ukraine-Russia war not because there is a complete sympathy between two countries, but Ukraine is a large country and “Putin with Medvedev don’t have the guts.”

Nemtsov believes that leaders of countries are aware of the armed forces state, “how the aircrafts crash, vessels fail to sail, submarines are not set afloat, bullying-meaning everything”. “Surely, they somehow dealt with situation in Georgia, but as for Ukraine, it’s ‘a horse of a different color’. So, don’t you worry, there will be no war, as for them-it’s a political mortality. Neither Europe, nor U.S. will &‘digest’ that, which will mean an international isolation” – the oppositionist concluded.
