YEREVAN. – Cold fronts from the northwest will penetrate into Armenia on Friday and Saturday. As a result, the air temperature will drop by 5 to 6 degrees Celsius (˚C), and on Saturday, it will not exceed 33˚C or 34˚C, in capital city Yerevan.

Deputy Director of the Hydrometeorology and Monitoring State Service Meteorological Center, Gagik Surenyan, told the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“The mean daily air temperature [in Armenia] is 5 to 7 degrees above normal in the past five days,” noted Surenyan.

He added that this year’s heat in the country is unprecedented in terms of duration, and in the history of meteorology, there was no similar lasting heat wave in Armenia in the last 170 years.
