Investigation on the death of Novruzali Mamedov, “Tolishi sado” Chief Editor, is launched in Azerbaijan. The decision will be made once the forensic examination is done, the Prosecutor General Office's Press Secretary, Eldar Sultanov, stated.

Rafael Mehdiyev, the Head of the Justice Ministry Central Health Department, said that Mammadov received medical treatment based on diagnosis.

Committee for the Protection of Journalists in New York also demanded to conduct independent investigation.

August 17, Novruzali Mamedov, 68, Tolish cultural center Head and “Tolishi sado” daily (voice of Talish) Chief Editor, died in Azerbaijani prison hospital. Azerbaijani authorities kept Mamedov under detention. Despite all appeals of human rights’ organizations and foreign diplomats, seriously ill Mamedov was not released. According to preliminary inquest the death was caused by cerebral thrombosis.
