“When you see them in the streets you think Paris is so near and meanwhile so far,” said French National Parliament MP Andre Guerin, Communist faction member, Spanish “El Pais” informs. He speaks about numerous Muslim women in purdah on Paris streets.

Mr. Guerin is not happy with the presence of that number of Muslim women in Paris, saying: “Should France further be indulgent to these women in the streets, covered all over? It's not about some measures against women rights, let alone Islam. Quite the contrary, it’s a lent hand of help. It blackens both body and the mind, making them look like a walking prisons”.

Interestingly, already 57 delegates of different factions joined Guerin. Moreover, recently the President Nikolas Sarkozy also spoke of this issue: “We cannot accept women-prisoners, that are separated from social life. This does not conform to the ideology of French republic on dignity of women; purdah in France is not welcome”.

So, what fate awaits Muslim women in France?
