Summing up the results of the OSCE MG Co-Chairs’ visit to the region, the following conclusion is drawn: the implementation of the mediators’ proposals is more important than their contents.
According to the source, U.S., Russia and France have three options to convey a clear political view to Karabakh conflict resolution.
a)to gain consent of the conflicting parties
b)to make the conflicting parties make decisions
c)to maintain status quo, that is a frozen conflict
Which of these 3 options is real at the moment?
“The first option assumes an agreement on concessions not only between Armenian, Azerbaijani, and Karabakh leaders, but also Armenian and Azerbaijani nations. It is a well known fact, unlike Armenia, whose positions did not undergo significant changes, at least after 1998, Azerbaijani leadership extremely toughened its stances on the Karabkah peace process. Even if we imagine this is merely a dramatized show to make the OSCE Minsk Group Azerbaijan-oriented, again the question of implementation of the reached agreements arises. After all, Nagorno-Karabakh should also be involved in the negotiations process and a reached agreement should be approved by the Parliament,” the daily reads.
