The Armenian delegation to the Council of Europe (CE) must in writing express its concern over the anti-Armenian activities of PACE Rapporteur on monitoring of Armenia Goran Lindblad, the Chairwoman of the Committee for European Integration, member of the RA delegation to PACE Naira Zohrabyan stated at a press briefing.
Since he was appointed PACE rapporteur, Lindblad has regularly made anti-Armenian statements on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey early in the 20th century. “In short, Mr. Lindblad behaved as a full member of the Azeri delegation to PACE,” Zohrabyan said. She regrets the fact that the PACE Regulations do not provide for a no confidence procedure for rapporteurs on monitoring – the Armenian delegation would propose a motion of no confidence in Goran Lindblad. “We do not demand that a pro-Armenian politician be appointed rapporteur on Armenia, but we want an impartial figure, who would really reveal the country’s problems and help solve them,” Zohrabyan said.
