Iranian and Azerbaijani presidents direct their will toward the development of relations between the two countries, said Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohammad Bagir Bahrami at the international conference “Republic of Azerbaijan: past experiences and future prospects”, APA reports.
“The OSCE Minsk Group didn’t reach any progress toward the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict over 19 years. On the contrary, it caused complication of the situation. The Minsk Group doesn’t make an effort for the fair solution to the conflict and it is not able to do that at all,” Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohammad Bagir Bahrami stated at the international conference “Republic of Azerbaijan: past experiences and future prospects”.
The Iranian diplomat made several scandalous statements on the Madrid Principles and the prospects of the deployment of international peacekeeping forces in the Karabakh conflict zone.
“There are no clear reports about this project. Deployment of international peacekeepers in the occupied territories means to officially separate Nagorno-Karabakh from Azerbaijan. Iran insists on unchanged international borders. Iran voted for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan at UN many times”. APA quotes Bahrami.
According to Bahrami, Azeri President Ilham Aliyev gave consent to the Iran’s mediation in the Karabakh peace process.
