Disrupting German mission in Afghanistan, Azerbaijan tries to put a brave face on a sorry business. German media reports Azerbaijan barred its air space for German military contingent and by doing so stymied the mission of aircrafts equipped with Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS).

Spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs Elhan Poluhov said: “Azerbaijan has cooperated with NATO and will continue to do so within the framework of peacekeeping operations held in Afghanistan under the aegis of Alliance.”

It seems Baku officials assume this statement will pay off their failure to provide conditions for German military mission and takes away Azerbaijan’s commitment on servicing terrorism-fighting aircrafts.

Sources engaged in air corridor procedures for NATO states told NEWS.am over three weeks German soldiers were at the defended locality of NATO in Konya, Turkey and returned to Germany without starting the mission execution, while the process takes a couple of days. Actually the mission of aircrafts servicing AWACS was failed, though the decision was made in Bundestag.

Apparently, while German soldiers were vegetating in Turkey, Azerbaijan and Elhan Poluhov “cooperated and keep on cooperating with NATO”.
