The parliamentarian delegation headed by Armenian Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan arrived in Bern on Tuesday.

At the meeting with members of the Armenian-Swiss parliament group Abrahamyan noted that due to the dynamics and work of the group, relations between the states are developing and expanding, RA Parliamentary press service informed NEWS.am. The Armenian Speaker also appreciated activities of Armenia-Switzerland Parliamentary Friendship Group.

Abrahamya expressed his gratitude for resolution on Genocide recognition adopted by the Swiss National Council on December 16, 2003, pointing out contribution of Armenia-Switzerland Parliamentary Friendship Group.

The sides also discussed the Karabakh conflict. The Co-Chairs of Armenia-Switzerland Parliamentary Friendship Group Ueli Leunberger and Dominique de Buman stated that the Karabakh conflict should be resolved peacefully on the basis of self-determination principle.

The Co-Chairs also stressed importance of establishment of peace and stability in the South Caucasus.

The Armenian delegation comprised the head of NA Armenia-Switzerland Parliamentary Friendship Group Ara Babloyan and Vardan Bostanjyan, Deputy Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs.

On September 29, the Armenian Speaker will meet with newly elected president of Switzerland, Speaker of the Council of States Erika Forster-Vannini, President of National Council Pascale Bruderer Wyss and Foreign Minister Micheline Calmy-Rey.
