The heated public debate over the aims of the fact-finding field mission in the liberated territories of Nagorno-Karabakh scheduled for October 4-14 is gradually revealing various threats of the initiative, which appears to be a regular event arranged by the OSCE Minsk Group, writes Hayots Ashkharh.

“Obviously, some issues related to this controversial mission have not so far been settled. However, the OSCE MG Co-Chairs, UNDP experts, and the ones of the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees’ office, are soon to arrive in the region. It is a controversial mission, as it has been arranged ‘in the light’ of the draft resolution submitted and later withdrawn by Azerbaijan at the U.N. General Assembly. This is the reason for the international community’s false impression about political pressure on Armenia. Now, however, the mission’s route is the most important of the issues arousing concern. The point is that, although the OSCE MG Co-Chairs promised to retain parity, that is, to visit both the territories under Nagorno-Karabakh’s control and the Shahumyan region, as well as other territories controlled by Azerbaijan, Baku is known to object to this scenario. So it will not give its consent now,” the newspaper writes.
