NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen laid wreaths at mausoleum and commemorated Ataturk. He left writing in the “guest book”. It read that he is honoured as NATO Secretary General to pay tribute to Ataturk, the founder of Turkish Republic which is a permanent member of NATO, makes efforts to reach “peace in the world” – as was entrusted by Ataturk, “Voice of Turkey” reports.

Having visited the Museum of Ataturk and Turkish war for independence, Rasmussen held a joint press-conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu. Rasmussen declared that anti-terrorism struggle is a priority for him. Davutoglu stated that general standpoint in struggle against terrorist stays the same. Rusmussen called for Turkey’s considerable assistance in preparation of Afghan military forces.

NEWS.am reminds that when Rasmussen considered for the position of NATO Secretary General, Turkey was against his candidacy deeming him anti-Islamist.
