Georgian-Azerbaijani relations are something more than strategic partnership and Georgian President’s statement regarding confederation is not an emotional one. He just described the essence of bilateral relations, Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze said at a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian.

According to him, the point concerns not amending of both countries’ constitution, “the statement just describes future figurative cooperation”.

The Georgian FM has arrived on a two-day official visit to Yerevan.

Early this July Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili came forward with an initiative to create a Georgian-Azerbaijani confederation. Official Baku coolly responded to this initiative and has refused to comment on the statement so far.
