The Upper Lars checkpoint is operating at the moment. There is no oral or written order to close the Upper Lars, Georgian FM Grigol Vashadze stated at a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian on October 4.
According to Vashadze, the checkpoint might have been temporarily closed for technical reasons.
In his turn, Armenian FM said the Upper Lars is a major car checkpoint-- carrying out cargo transportations and passenger traffic between Armenia and Russia-- is operating and will continue operate in the near future.
As NEWS.am reported previously, in mid September, Georgian cars heading from Russia to Armenia faced problems with crossing the Upper Lars checkpoint. Particularly, the traffic was suspended on the Russian-Georgian border for two and a half days.
