On August 28, 2009 the ferry Sari Mulia heading Negara-Banjarmasin sank off near the island Borneo. As a result 5 people died and 20 others missing, Reuters reports.

There were 132 passengers on shipboard. It sank about 100 kilometers from Banjarmasin. No official statement on the accident causes is made, an investigation is conducted.

However, under unofficial data, the probable cause of the accident was overcrowding, as its permissible load is 45 people.
