Armenia and Belarus have no political disagreements, and Belarus remains a friendly country for Armenia, which is ready for close mutually beneficial cooperation and partnership, both at the bilateral level and within international institutions, Belarusian Ambassador to Armenia Stepan Sukhorenko told reporters on October 6, commenting on Armenian-Belarusian relations.

“The two states are engaged in a rather serious political dialogue and have no political disagreements. Our countries have similar approaches to most international problems, coordination and mutual support within international agencies, interest in more effective cooperation within the CIS, formation of a collective security system within the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO),” Sukhorenko.

Although the Belarusian leader frequently stresses Armenian-Belarusian relations, Azeri press has repeatedly quoted him as saying official Minsk supports Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity in the context of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In this respect Sukhorenko said: “Speculations often take place. We have repeatedly stated at the highest level that we are for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem on the basis of the three principles: territorial integrity, peoples’ right to self-determination, and settlement of the problem in all the parties’ interests. We are not taking anyone’s side.”
