At the meetings of the Armenian-Belarusian inter-parliamentary committee the Armenian side should raised the issue on recognition of the Armenian Genocide by Belarus, the Chairman of the Armenia-Belarusian inter-parliamentary committee, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs Hrayr Karapetyan told NEWS.am.

Commenting on Belarusian Ambassador Stepan Sukhorenko’s statement Minsk will consider recognition of the Armenian Genocide if there are adequate appeals, Karapetyan said the Belarusian side shelves the consideration of the issue for various reasons.

“The consideration of the Armenian Genocide was put off due to the impending parliamentary elections in the country. However, this does not mean Armenia will stop making appeals irrespective of election results,” he said.

According to him, the Armenian Ambassador to Belarus as well Armenia Foreign Ministry should do their utmost on the matter. “It is unacceptable for Belarus, as a CSTO partner of Armenia, not to consider the resolution, denouncing the Armenian Genocide,” Karapetyan stressed.
