The Hraparak newspaper reports that the Ararat and Shoghakat TV companies decided to merge for facilitating broadcasting digitization. Neither the Holy See of Echmiadznin (owner of the Shoghakat TV company) nor the government circles (owners of the Ararat TV company) do not mind. On October 6, Director of the Ararat TV channel Meruzhan Ter-Ghulanyan told the newspaper that he is not informed of the decision. He does not rule out a merger, as both the channels specialize in cultural and spiritual programs.

“It is not up to Ter-Ghulanyan to decide. His answer shows that he may be the last to known about the decision,” the newspaper writes.
