NATO discusses with Azerbaijan the possibility of member-states peacekeeping mission to use its air space for military operations in Afghanistan.

“We hold negotiations with a number of countries including Azerbaijan,” undisclosed source in NATO told Interfax-Azerbaijan agency on the phone from Brussels.

The alliance representative touched upon the recent statement made by Deutsche Welle, that Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan did not grant NATO aircrafts space coordination clearance and failed NATO mission in Afghanistan. “We do not bring up a point or state that it did not happen because of Azerbaijan. We say that use of the country’s air space is a matter of discussion,” NATO representative underlined.
