On October 9, Armenian Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan received the delegation of Deir ez Zor province of Syria headed by the governor Husain Arnus.
Armen Gevorgyan noted that development of multilateral cooperation with Syria is one of Armenia’s priorities, ministry’s press service informed NEWS.am.
The sides also discussed the issues related to cooperation at inter-regional level. The Vice Prime Minister expressed hope that cooperation agreement recently signed by Armavir region of Armenia and Deir ez Zor will be implemented in the near future becoming another example of efficient cooperation between friendly nations.
Armen Gevorgyan said that Armenian people are grateful for valueless assistance of Syria in the critical moments of Armenian history. Armenian community of Syria is a reliable bridge of friendship between two nations and states. He also stated that construction of the monument dedicated to Armenian-Arab friendship has been completed in Yerevan. The monument constructed on the initiative of Syrian Armenians and with assistance of Armenian Government and Yerevan City Hall symbolizes our gratitude to Arabs who saved Armenians during 1915 Genocide in Ottoman Empire.
