Each conflict is unique and needs a unique approach, Slovenian President Danilo Turk said at a press conference in Yerevan.

According to him, international principle of nations’ right to self-determination and territorial integrity of the states do not act spontaneously, their implementation is preceded by stage of interim decisions. Speaking of the ICJ’s verdict on Kosovo, Turk stressed that the Kosovo conflict differs from others, as back in 1999 Kosovo was placed under the administration of the UN. “In 1999 the UN recognized the Kosovo conflict as a threat to international security. Then, peacekeeping forces were deployed and territory was placed under international administration. Subsequently this became the reason for the judgment in Hague Court of Justice, according to which Kosovo’s independence does not contradict international principles,” Turk said, stressing that ICJ’s decision evaded questions on principle of nations’ right to self-determination.
