The Armenian National Congress (ANC) intends to hold rallies in Yerevan on October 15 and 19. The October 19 rally will to be held on the occasion of the CE forum for democracy, which is to be held in Yerevan on October 19-21, Levon Zurabyan, ANC Office Coordinator told reporters on October 12.
According to Zurabyan, it is an influential forum held in CE member-states since 2005. The CE Secretary General, European Commissioner for Human Rights, co-rapporteurs on Armenia and high-raking officials and representatives of influential international institutions will be in Armenia.
“It is a good occasion for presenting our demands to the democratic community. So we decided to hold a rally and procession. We have also prepared interesting information we are going to available at the October 15 rally,” Zurabyan said.
As regards the Yerevan Municipality’s refusal to allow the ANC to hold a rally in Liberty Square, he said: “It was another illegal decision by the Yerevan Municipality, just as the events held in Liberty Square – the Yerevan Municipality did not inform anyone in advance. Liberty Square is traditional place for the Armenian people’s political activity. It is kind of forge of freedom,” Zurabyan said. Her said that the ANC may run out of patience soon.
