August 30, while in Ganmuhuri village of Western Georgia (border with Abkhazia), Mikheil Saakashvili got a shoe hit on his head. A stranger fled the spot, but was caught by President’s guards, Alia reports. According to some source, the shoe-thrower was drunk.

Youth welcomed Saakashvili chanting “Misha! Misha!” when he arrived at a disco on Sunday night. Alia reports that one could hear swearing addressed to Georgian President.

The shoe landed on Saakashvili’s head when he was being interviewed by local media, however this episode was off-air.
