A group of qualified experts of 12 NATO member-states headed by Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright has initiated a development of a new Strategic Concept of the Alliance.

At the 4 April NATO Summit, 28 Heads of States assigned the new appointed Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen to develop a new NATO Strategic Concept. The next Summit meeting is scheduled end of 2010.

Representatives from Canada, Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Turkey, Spain, Poland, Latvia, and Greece comprise the group of experts.

Formally the process was launched at the July 7 NATO security conference in Brussels.
