Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu confirmed Turkey’s readiness to pursue its “zero problems with neighbors” policy, including Armenia, he stated at the joint press conference with the incumbent President of the de facto Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Mehmet Ali Talat. “However, along with the relations improvement and aiming at establishing a continuous peace, we expect the settlement of conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan to be held a step ahead at the mediation attempts of international community”, Davutoğlu said.

Ankara has closed borders with Armenia since 1993. Turkey lays down a number of conditions for the normalization of relations. Particularly, the matter is Armenia to drop its international Genocide recognition policy and unilateral concessions on Karabakh conflict settlement.

NEWS.am informed earlier, on August 31, the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Turkey issued a press release, that says: "The Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Turkey have agreed to start their internal political consultations on two protocols – the ‘Protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations’ and the ‘Protocol on the development of bilateral relations’ – which have been initiated in the course of their efforts under Swiss mediation.
