A decision has been taken on the extradition of Israeli citizen blogger Alexander Lapshin—who is detained in Belarus—to Azerbaijan.
His girlfriend, Ekaterina, informed about the aforesaid on LiveJournal social networking service, conveying the respective words of the blogger, who is held at the Minsk investigation detention hall.
Accordingly, Lapshin informed that, several days ago, he was summoned to a talk with the representatives of law enforcement agencies and told that a decision of extradition to Azerbaijan was reached regarding his case, reported IzRu.
But Israel, Azerbaijan, and Belarus seem to have made an arrangement, according to which, upon arrival in the Azerbaijan capital city of Baku, Lapshin is to be sent to Israel; and solely his consent to this extradition is needed.
His girlfriend, however, said the Israeli consulate has told her that there is no arrangement regarding the blogger’s case.
Alexander Lapshin was detained on December 15 in the Belarus capital city of Minsk, and based on the request by Azerbaijan. The latter’s General Prosecutor’s Office is doing everything possible to have this well-known blogger extradited to Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani authorities had issued a search for Lapshin, and for visiting Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh).
