The re-alignment of political forces in the U.S. mid-term elections will create new opportunities or lobbying issues of pro-Armenian significance, Giro Manoyan, head of the Hay Dat (Armenian Cause) office, ARF Dashnaktsutyun told NEWS.am.

“The elections may be considered positive for the Armenian side, as 90% of the Armenian Cause-backed candidates emerged victorious from the elections. This means the number of pro-Armenian Congressmen remained almost unchanged.  However, the point is Democrat President Obama and the White House will not be able to exert pressure on U.S. Congress like it used to do.  In this regard, the legislative branch will be independent in decision making,” Manoyan said. According to him, it will contribute to the adoption of documents of great significance to the Armenian people, as the White House hindered documents’ approval before.  The indirect evidence thereof is Ankara earlier expressed concern over the Republicans’ victory in the elections, ARFD member said.

“This means Turkey also considers the distribution of political forces may advance the adoption of pro-Armenian documents,” Manoyan emphasized.

As NEWS.am reported previously, on November 2, Republican Party won the mid-term elections in U.S. Congress.  The Armenian community in U.S. backed 160 candidates both from Republican and Democratic parties. 90% of the ANCA-endorsed candidates won the elections
