Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu will visit Georgia on September 7-8, 2009.

Georgian media reports the purpose of Davutoglu’s visit is the case on Buket tanker Capt. Mehmet Ozturk who was sentenced to 24 years imprisonment by Georgian court.

Ozturk was detained for having 6 times trespassed Abkhazia territorial waters flying Panama flag and freight shipping which Georgian party terms “smuggling”.

Davutoglu is going to demand review of the sentence towards a more liberal one, Georgian media informs. Georgian side has confiscated the freight (2.000 t. petrol and 700 t. diesel fuel) and will sell the tanker at an auction.
