The Armenian authorities may organize a striptease show in Liberty Square in the near future, with high-ranking officials as stripers, only to prevent Opposition members from gathering there, Levon Zurabyan, ANC Coordinator, told journalists.
The Opposition must not time its actions to the authorities’ shows. “We have never viewed their shows as serious. The people have now left the square, but they will design something mean again. This time they are ready to stage a striptease show,” Zurabyan said. “Every day we will ask for permission to hold a rally in the square, apply to various international agencies,” Zurabyan said. He promised the Opposition will get Liberty Square “de-occupied.”
Speaking of a change of power, he pointed out that a popular rebellion is the most likely thing “the ruling regime will not be able to respond to as it did on March 1, 2008”.
As to the possibility of early elections, he said: “People saying there are no prerequisites for early elections are involuntary interferers,” he said.
