Participants of the EU-Armenia forum prepared a text of a statement regarding violence used by police against oppositional activists during a picket in Yerevan organized on the occasion of the forum.

The initiator is Stepan Danielyan, forum participant and head of the “Cooperation for Democracy” NGO.

In a statement, the EU-Armenia Civil Society Seminar on the Right to a Fair Trial and Independence of the Judiciary expressed concern over violence used against picket participants. They called on the Armenian officials to respect the right of citizens for organization of rallies and pickets. At the moment the statement is signed by dozen participants.
