Young activists of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Sargis and Areg Gevorgyans, Vahagn Gevorgyan and Sargis Ghazarayan were taken to Police Department of Kentron District in Yerevan, lawyer Givi Hovhannisyan told NEWS.am.

According to him, the arrested activists were taken to a forensic examiner, who recorded their injuries.

The lawyer did not rule out criminal proceedings may be instituted against ANC activists.  “They do whatever they want. If the activists were brought here, they will be charged,” he said.

Interestingly, despite the forensic doctor recorded injuries, a representative of Armenian Police press service Armen Malkhasyan categorically denied ANC activists had been beaten up in the Kentron police department.

On November 9, at 10:15 a.m. young protestors of the Armenian National Congress clashed with policemen in Charles Aznavour Square (near Moscow Cinema). A deputy of Kentron police chief of staff Arayik Petrosyan insulted the young activists and prevented them from processing along the Republic Square.

The policemen cordoned off the area with yellow tapes and placed barriers for the protestors not to march. The young men opposed, considering their action illegal.
