Kadri Ecved Tezcan criticized Austria’s policy on immigrants and was later invited to the Austrian Foreign Ministry for explanations, Aksam reported. Moreover, Austrian Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger called his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu expressing his concern over the matter.

In an interview with newspaper, Kadri Ecved Tezcan said Turks did not wish to be treated “like a virus”. Turkish Ambassador advised Austrians “to learn to live with others”. Later Austrian Ambassador in Ankara visited Turkish foreign office expressing his country’s concern over diplomat’s remarks.

Interview angered Austrian political forces and some of them even demand that diplomatic relations with Ankara should be suspended.
