The rumors regarding the resignation of Armenian Health Minister Harutyun Kushkyan are untrue. The Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) isn’t considering consider the issue of asking for his resignation, PAP Press Secretary Khachik Galstyan told NEWS.am.
“The Prosperous Armenia Party highly appreciates Kushkyan’s activities as Health Minister,” Galstyan said. As to why the Armenian Prime Minister has sharply criticized the activities of Armenian Health Ministry, stressing that the corruption has gone deep into the sphere. Galstyan said this is not indicative of Harutyun Kushkyan’s poor work. “All the problems are of structural nature,” he said, stressing that he does not see political motives in the Prime Minister’s criticism against the Armenian Health Ministry. It should be considered in the context of normal working relations, Galstyan said. He also refuted the rumors that Kushkyan is in Sochi and is opening his own hospital there. “Harutyun Kushkyan is in Yerevan,” Galstyan emphasized.
As NEWS.am reported previously, at the November 4 governmental session, Armenian Prime Minsiter Tigran Sargsyan sharply criticized those responsible for the RA Health and Education Ministries. “We have received complaints about corruption in the healthcare system. The Minister of Healthcare is hereby directed to come up with corresponding proposals concerning personnel changes, including the head of the ministry staff and those deputy ministers who have fulfilled the target functions.” Later, according to Prime Minister’s decision, Armenian Deputy Health Ministers Tatul Hakobyan and Abraham Manukyan, as well as the Chief of Staff of Health Ministry were dismissed.
