There are no Armenians among the victims in a spate of violence against Christians in Iraq, Press Secretary of Armenian Foreign Ministry Tigran Balayan told NEWS.am, referring to Armenian Embassy in Iraq.
As NEWS.am reported previously, an Armenian was killed in a spate of violence against Christians in Iraq. Seven people, two of them Christians were killed in an attack yesterday, France Presse reported.
Christians were attacked in the city of Mosul, north Iraq. An armed group killed parishioner of Assyrian Catholic church and his relative, Armenian by origin. The killers managed to escape. According to France Press, the killed Armenian was a carpenter, whereas his relative was working for an anti-corruption office.
Attacks on Christians have recently increased in Iraq. Last week 6 people were killed and another 33 injured. Earlier this month 60 people were killed in a hostage-taking at the Catholic church of Baghdad.
