On November 18, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev arrived in Azerbaijan to participate in the Third Caspian Summit, AzerTaj state news agency reported.

A guard of honor was lined up for Kazakh leader at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport. Kazakh president was welcomed by first deputy prime minister of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyyubov and other officials.

As NEWS.am reported previously, on November 18, Baku hosts the Third Caspian Summit. Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Iranian, Russian and Turkmen Presidents participate in the summit. A security cooperation agreement covering the Caspian Sea is expected to be signed at the summit.

Russian President will meet his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev. The officials will touch upon Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and possible routes of transportation of energy resources from deposits on Caspian Sea, RIA Novosti reports citing its source in the Russian delegation.

Medvedev is expected to meet Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev on the sidelines of the Summit in Baku.
