Russia is ready to contribute to the development of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and resolution of the Karabakh conflict, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said at the meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev.

Russia is ready to exert effort to ensure security in the region and assist development of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, he noted. “Recently certain steps have been taken. I agree that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be settled in compliance with the norms of international law. The work is being done at all levels,” ITAR TASS quotes the Russian leader, promising his country’s assistance to the process.

Speaking of bilateral contacts Medvedev stressed that inter- governmental and business ties are dynamically developing.
