YEREVAN. – A mechanism of privileges can be set in the fight against smoking in Armenia, said Babken Pipoyan, Chairman of the “Informed and Protected Consumer” NGO, at a press conference on Friday.

In his words, however, attempts are not made in the country to give privileges and resolve problems on the account privileges.

As per Pipoyan, it is also important as to whether there is a guarantee that any cigarette substitute also will be banned in public places in Armenia.

“If not, I may think that the objective of these people is not a healthcare reform,” he added. “If the objective is the reform, they need to see to it that people follow their every word; nothing good can be done by deceiving.”

On World No Tobacco Day on Wednesday, Minister of Health Levon Altunyan announced that smoking will be banned in public places in Armenia.
