YEREVAN. – An independent commission to combat corruption will be set up in Armenia.

The National Assembly on Friday passed the respective bill in the second and final reading. 

The members of this commission will be dependent on the government, and the MPs will elect them for a six-year term.

Although the parliament and the government will not intervene in the running of this commission, the latter shall issue a report on its activities.

This commission will consider the official, property, and work ethic interests of Armenia’s top officials.

The reports on relevant violations will be forwarded to law enforcement authorities.

Also, this commission will register the property of officials.
