Azerbaijan cannot get Nagorno-Karabakh situation under control neither through war or negotiations, nor economic blockade. Kadri Gürsel, the Foreign News Editor of Milliyet daily says in “Forgetting Karabakh is for Azeris’ good” article (Karabağ’ı unutmak Azerilerin hayrınadır).

According to the editor, the only thing Baku can do is to diplomatically regain the control over NKR adjacent liberated territories with the condition of land communication retention between Armenia and Karabakh. Turkish analyst considers “since Karabakh issue is in the focus of Azerbaijani authorities and opposition struggle, this country does not display the necessary flexibility in the problem solution.” He underlined Baku never succeeded or ever will while taking firm position and making permanent warlike statements. Gürsel compares the situation over Karabakh conflict with that of Cyprus. “Just as Turkey tells the Greek and the whole world that return to the previous status in Cyprus issue (before 1974) is impossible, same should be said to Azeri fellows, that is return to the Caucasus of 1992 is also impossible.”
