YEREVAN. – Meeting of the Armenian-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation kicked off Tuesday in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

The session is moderated by the co-chairs of this commission: the Minister of Economic Development and Investments of Armenia, Suren Karayan; and the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, Nematullo Hikmatullozoda.

Karayan noted Armenia’s advantage in joining the Eurasian Economic Union—which also comprises Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan—and its appeal for investors in the IT sector. He added that there are free economic zones in the country. 

Hikmatullozoda, for his part, stated that the normalization economic ties serves not only to the benefit of the two countries, but the region in general.

He said they are pleased to strengthen cooperation with Armenia.
