Protracted conflicts jeopardize Europe’s security and they should not remain unresolved, Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, said at the OSCE summit, NEWS.am correspondent reported.
He brought an example of the OSCE MG as the best format for resolution of the conflict, as well as OSCE’s presence in Georgia aimed at settling existing problems with respect to territorial integrity of the country. Van Rompuy also stressed unacceptability of using force in solution to the existing problems.
Use of such terms as unresolved or protracted conflicts poses a risk that they may grow into irretrievable ones, he said.
As NEWS.am reported earlier, OSCE Summit opened on December 1 in Astana. The delegation headed by Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan arrived in Astana on November 30. The delegation comprises Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, Ambassador-at-Large Arkadiy Ghukasyan and deputy head of presidential staff Vigen Sargsyan.
