The five-sided statement made at the Astana Summit confirmed the superiority of the OSCE Minsk Group format and indirectly confirmed the Madrid principles, Hovsep Khurshudyan, Spokesman for Heritage Party, told journalists December 2.
The statement contains a reference to the statements of Presidents Medvedev, Sarkozy, and Obama, at L’aquila on July 10, 2009, and at Muskoka on June 26, 2010, which clearly highlight the Madrid principles, without highlighting the final status, terms or referendum, as well as the withdrawal of Armenian forces from the liberated territories,” Khurshudyan said. A third document has been approved without Nagorno-Karabakh’s participation and consent, he said.
Azerbaijan is obviously dissatisfied with the meeting. The Summit did not address Azerbaijan’s violations, the Armenian MP said.
“This document cannot be a guarantee for us, as it has been signed with an unreliable partner,” Khurshudyan said.
