No girl from the Armenian community in Iran was  beaten or arrested. Karina, a journalist of the “Alik”, weekly published in Tehran told NEWS.am.

“The information posted on NCR-Iran.org site has not been correct from the very beginning, and such an incident did not occur. This is misinformation,”- she said.

However, as reported earlier by NEWS.am citing NCR-Iran.org,  a 14-year-old Armenian girl was severely beaten in the Isfahan city of Iran. According to the website of National Council of Resistance of Iran, she was beaten by the Iranian regime’s paramilitary Bassij Forces.

The source says she was stopped by a group of Bassij suppressive agents who insisted that she was not adequately veiled. They wanted to detain her but the girl resisted. Other youths rushed to help her, urging the agents not to arrest her.

According to eyewitnesses, a State Security Forces (SSF) unit arrived on the scene to provide back up to the Bassij agents, who violently dispersed the population and detained the girl as they beat her, the website reads.

NEWS.am contacted the Iranian Embassy in Armenia for clarification and more information on the matter. Iranian Embassy has not yet provided an explanation.
